Matt Carmichael
Hey, I’m Matt Carmichael, a saxophonist and composer based in Glasgow and I’m really excited to come to Islay again this year after having lots of fun playing at the festival last year and getting stranded with ferry cancellations! This year I’m hoping to be able to explore the island a little more as I've just passed my driving test! I’m also looking forward to playing some music with my own band as well as collaborating with some new musicians too.
I’ve released two albums so far under my own name ‘Marram’ and ‘Where Will The River Flow’ with another one on the way… the music blends my love of Jazz and Folk - some of the Jazz musicians I’ve collaborated with include Fergus McCreadie, Rob Luft, Bob Mintzer, WDR Big Band, corto.alto and some Folk musicians include Charlie Stewart, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Kathleen MaCInness, Innes White, Juliette Lemoine, Kim Carnie and Rachel Sermanni.
