I’m a trumpet player from Chicago, IL - where I keep busy as a composer, producer, co-own a jazz record label, and teach at two universities.

I’ve had the pleasure of working in ensembles with many excellent musicians - jazz icons like Tim Hagans, Jon Irabagon, Atlantic Road Trip, Bram Weijters, Jay Thomas, Miguel Zenon, Avishai Cohen, Scott Tinkler, Maria Schneider… to rock legends like Michael Shrieve and the Tokyo-based MONO.

For the past five years, the collaborative Atlantic Road Trip (with Paul Towndrow and Miro Herak) has been one of the most prolific ensembles I’ve been a part of. We’ve written a lot of culturally meaningful music including our first album (“ONE” on Calligram Records) and a 75-minute suite for full orchestra and jazz band called “Over Mountain Under Sky.” It’s the most successful project that I’ve been a part of which embodies the excellence of musical connection - both on and off the bandstand - that I hold in highest regards.

I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s festival - I can’t imagine a more idyllic part of the world to be creating music in. There are so many musicians in the Scottish music scene whom I’ve admired from recordings that I’ll finally get to hear and work with and I’m so excited. I’ve also heard a rumor there might be some scotch around, but I’m skeptical because that just sounds too good to be true.
