Laura Oghagbon
Hey! My name is Laura Oghagbon. I am a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist based in Glasgow. I currently study Jazz Vocals at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I began my jazz singing journey in 2019 and haven't looked back since. I enjoy creating and performing in various genres such as Jazz, Gospel, Neo-Soul, and R&B. My influences include Sarah Vaughan, Jazmine Sullivan, Kim Burell, and Jazzmeia Horn. I draw a lot of my inspiration from my relationship with God and the rich culture of church music, which has so many beautiful styles and traditions I connect with deeply.
I have had the opportunity to perform for the BBC's 'Songs of Praise' and at the 2023 Edinburgh Jazz Festival alongside Laura Macdonald, Mario Caribe, Alyn Cosker, and Paul Harrison.
This will be my first time at the Islay Jazz Festival, and I am looking forward to it! I've heard wonderful things and can't wait to experience it for myself. I'm also excited to meet other great musicians and see the sights!
