Aberdeen Jazz Festival Orchestra feat. Richard Michael
The Aberdeen Jazz Festival Orchestra, led by Richard Michael, unites top local ensembles—Jazz at the Blue Lamp Community Big Band, Jazz at the Blue Lamp Youth Combo, the Aberdeen Jazz Festival Youth Ensemble, and local fiddle players—in an exhilarating fusion of jazz and traditional Scottish fiddling.
Featuring a brand new performance of the specially commissioned piece 'Hoolie Time,' as well as specially written arrangements of 'Smile' and 'Tuxedo Junction,' the Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra brings together young players taking their first steps in jazz alongside the professionals, uniting the city under one swinging vibe.
If you’re up for joining the groove and you play a big band instrument or fiddle to approx. grade 4 level or above, get in touch via our contact form to indicate your interest in taking part! Availability for rehearsals required on 15th and 16th March.
