You’ll have the chance to flit between events including: our Youth Jazz Showcase, with the finest young talent from across the city and beyond; Dee Don Danube - musicians from Aberdeen and our twin city of Regensburg join forces to artfully tread the common musical terrain at the Blue Lamp; an opportunity to jam with some top jazz musicians down at Spin plus chance to enjoy the hip vibes of MisFunk; and, if it all gets a bit much you can chill out to the rich and imaginative vocals of Alice Faye, or the swashbucklin’ blues of Jed Potts and the Hillman Hunters at the Lemon Tree.

THE BLUE LAMP
Innovative neo-soul/jazz inspired multi-instrumentalist performing a brand new solo set of original music. Expect a rich harmonic palette, inventive improvisation and intimate lyricism.
Artek Gypsy Jazz Trio
Authentic Gypsy jazz performed on guitar, accordion and bass by outstanding musicians from Scotland's Polish Roma community. Acting as ambassadors of their culture, the trio use their music to tell the story of the Roma's rich heritage and its contribution to the world of jazz.
Dee Don Danube - A Twin City Celebration
Winding, flowing and sparkling like the rivers of twin cities Regensburg and Aberdeen, this musical confluence will create a unique meeting of musicians. Scottish talents Ali Watson (double bass) and Richard Glassby (drums) will be joined by Regensburg natives Paulo Morello (guitar) and NY-based Tobias Meinhart (saxophone), to give musical expression to the historic ties between the two cities.
Twin cities since 1955, this long standing relationship has led to a number of concerts within the festival over its twenty years. In partnership with the city of Regensburg, the concert will be repeated at the Bavarian Jazz Weekend.
Open Stage Jam w/ Konrad Wisziewski
Join top saxophonist Konrad Wisziewski for an open stage with house band Ewan Hastie and Alyn Cosker - bring an instrument and jam with some of the best jazz musicians in Scotland. Perform your favourite jazz standards, or any music you’d like to bring along in a welcoming, warm and inclusive atmosphere.
MisFunk are a 5 piece genre-defying cover band of passionate music students from NESCol. The quintet will present an artfully selected blend of funk, soul, disco and rock, with classic covers and songs from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin and Janice Joplin as well as the party band MadHen.
LEMON TREE LOUNGE
Hailing from the vibrant Glasgow music scene, Alice Faye is an imaginative and insightful vocalist and singer-songwriter. Influenced by legends like Piaf and the soul-stirring Laurel Canyon sound, Alice Faye crafts exceptional vocals and heartfelt lyrics, leaving a lasting impact on listeners.
Jed Potts & the Hillman Hunters
Jed Potts and the Hillman Hunters have been supplying only the deepest of grooves and the rudest of shuffles since 2008. Since the release of their 2018 self-titled debut and 2022 follow up album ‘Swashbucklin’’, the trio - completed by Jonny Christie on drums and Charlie Wild on bass - have received glowing reviews from major blues publications across Britain. All set to unleash their ‘musical rascality’ on Aberdeen audiences, this promises to be a thrilling performance for all dedicated blues fans.

Come and enjoy the next generation of up and coming musicians as Dundee Soul Jazz Collective, Aberdeen Jazz Festival Youth Band and Aberdeen Music Service Orchestra take to the stage to perform a mix of jazz standards and more. Show your support to these young musicians - cheer on those improvised solos and celebrate their commitment, practice and hard work.
