Celebrating Burt Bacharach / Support: Ciara MacTaggart & Brian Palmer
The pretty sheltered harbour of Portnahaven is well worth a visit at the best of times, but none more so as when Scottish saxophonist Laura Macdonald brings her sell-out show Celebrating Burt Bacharach to the local Rhinns hall. Combining jazz, rock, pop and Brazilian rhythms (safe in the hands of drummer Roan Anderson), Bacharach's songs are known across the world. Rising star singer Laura Oghagbon joins the band to pay tribute to a legend of the music world, interpreting much-loved tunes like Catch a Falling Star, A House is Not a Home, and Alfie.
Opening the concert will be Islay songstress and musician extraordinaire Ciara MacTaggart (guitar, whistles, vocals) and Brian Palmer - Islay's well-regarded resident jazz drummer.
