3 new workshop dates added! Sign up for one, two or all three of our upcoming free jazz workshops. We are planning that these will springboard into a more regular ensemble in the autumn. In the meantime, come and play, we'd love to have you join us!

29 May - Come and Play Jazz

29 May 2022 . 1:00pm - 3:30pm . University of Aberdeen . Ages: P6 - S6

Come and play with some of Scotland’s top young musicians (Richard Glassby, Matthew Kilner). No previous jazz experience necessary - just come along and make some music. Open to all instrumentalists P6-S6 who have been playing for at least a year. Please bring your own instrument. A small number of keyboards can be provided.

NB: This workshop will cover different material to the previous come and play workshop held on 24 April.

12 June - Come and Play (sectionals)

12 June 2022 . 1:00pm - 3:30pm . University of Aberdeen . Ages: P6 - S6

We'll split off into groups for a little bit more focused time before coming back together into a group ensemble.

Keyboards with Neil Birse
Rhythm section (guitar, bass, drums) with Finley Campbell (bass) and Richard Glassby (drums)
Melody instruments with Matthew Kilner (saxophone) and Coralie Usmani (strings)

2:30 - 3:30

All together. Parents welcome to watch the end of the session from 3:15 - 3:30

18 June - Jazzing Through Time

Part of Light the Blue Youth Festival

18 June 2022 . 11:00 - 1:00 . The Lemon Tree

Matthew Kilner (saxophone) and Neil Birse (piano) will be taking you on a musical journey through the ages of jazz where you'll get the chance to listen, play and learn about some of the most iconic periods of jazz music. This workshop is part of Light the Blue Youth Festival and bookings should be made via the Aberdeen Performing Arts website. Link below.
