Colin Steele Quartet: The Blue Nile
Trumpeter Colin Steele has been a cornerstone of Scottish Jazz since the 90s, as an innovative composer and arranger, and a virtuosic player. He returns to Islay with his powerhouse quartet to perform music from their new album 'Jazz Interpretations of the Blue Nile Songbook', in the intimate setting of the ICCI. The Blue Nile were an uncategorisable Glaswegian trio (Paul Buchanan, Robert Bell and Paul Joseph Moore), who emerged from Glasgow in the early 1980s to redefine what could be done with indie-pop and electronica.
The Colin Steele Quartet will bring The Blue Nile back to life; the beautiful and atmospheric, synth-driven songs get the deluxe jazz treatment in exciting new arrangements performed on Islay for the first time.
