Modern Vikings are an outstanding jazz quintet, playing music with a strong emphasis on melody with the added grooves, urgency and colours of the American jazz tradition. The band's music reflects leader Stephen Henderson's many influences and experiences from the beginning of his musical upbringing to the present, creating a unique sound that is fresh, bold and emotive. 


Leading a stellar lineup featuring some of the stand-out performers from this year’s festival, Modern Vikings are a fitting final act, rounding off the 26th Caol Ila Islay Jazz Festival with musicianship of the highest order.
