Portable Infinity
Kicking off their 2025 European tour here at the Aberdeen Jazz Festival, the Atlantic-spanning Portable Infinity showcase their innovative and enthusiastic style, which brings together various influences from Herbie Hancock to Esbjörn Svensson. The definitive figures of Danish Benjamin Koppel (alto saxophone) and Swedish Jacob Karlzon (piano) lead with light and adventurous melodies grounded in the versatile and groovy stylings of former e.s.t. collaborator Magnus Östrom (drums) and multi-Grammy award-winner American Scott Colley (double bass). Innovation is central to the work being done here. “As a child I was always inventing something,” says Benjamin Koppel, “I use all that in my music.”
