Liam O'Neil is a trumpeter/composer born in Glasgow. A 2026 graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and an Edinburgh International Festival Rising Star in 2025 and 2026 - Liam is a much in demand sideman for various projects in Glasgow's vibrant jazz scene and beyond, with frequent appearances at jazz festivals across the UK.

Taught by trumpet masters such as Laura Jurd, Gerard Presencer and Peter Evans, Liam's own music blurs the boundary of modern jazz with contemporary classical composition techniques and varied use of electronics.

I'm really excited to be a part of Islay Jazz Festival 2026. So many great artists that I'm looking forward to checking out and, of course, being on this beautiful island for the first time.
