Graeme Stephen: ORWELL
Award-winning guitarist Graeme Stephen launches this year’s festival with the premiere of his latest work ORWELL; inspired by George Orwell's iconic novel 1984 and the time he spent writing it on the neighbouring island of Jura. Stephen is joined onstage by an ensemble featuring Fiona Winning on viola (whose work includes the London Sinfonietta and the London Philharmonic Orchestra), alongide returning favuorites Juliette Lemoine (cello) and Matthew Kilner (saxophone). Hosted at the Caol Ila Brand home, with a backdrop of sunset over the Paps of Jura, this is the perfect way for the festival to launch; a unique blend of music, landscape and setting.
