The Drummer: Richard Glassby Quartet

Richard Glassby is an award-winning, Aberdeen-based jazz drummer, composer, and educator who balances teaching in schools and at Aberdeen University with a vibrant performing and recording career across Scotland. For this special show, the quartet will be performing music from the debut album ‘Eclipse’. An exciting exploration of the jazz , ‘Eclipse’ features all original works by Glassby written whilst being a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and receiving the 2020 George Duncan Prize for Jazz Composition with these pieces. The music is a personal take on the classic quartet sound and is a reflective expression of his time in Glasgow. Expect high-class jazz from some of Scotlands best players; a mix of bop, swing, experiments and improvisation that'll delight you.
