Glasgow trio Sekoya make music that pulls you straight in. Born out of a decade-long friendship on the Scottish music scene, their sound weaves European jazz and traditional roots with subtle electronic textures. Rather than trading off flashy solos, all three members write and play as one. The music tells a story, moving from grooves through soundscapes, all the while showcasing melody and interaction. 'Band Jazz', reminiscent of Esbjorn Svenson Trio, yet clearly a sound of their own. Their debut album, Shuna, was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, and is out now.
