Artists

Marisha & Jim Addison

Singer Marisha Addison has been at the forefront of jazz in Aberdeen for more than 50 years. From fronting the Alex Sutherland Orchestra to leading the team at The Blue Lamp, she is a much-loved matriarch of the city’s music scene. Delivering classic jazz with pizzaz, she is an expert at engaging and delighting audiences. Marisha is joined by Jim Addison (piano)

AJF House Band, w. Relaxed Jazz Performance

Led by Neil Birse, a select group of Aberdeen Jazz musicians present a relaxed approach to jazz. Designed to be accessible and enjoyable for those young and old with additional support needs, but still with jazz of the highest order.

Albyn School Jazz Ensemble

The Albyn School Jazz Ensemble comprises of 3 alto saxes, a tenor sax, euphonium, 3 trumpets, violin, piano and drums; and the players are aged from 11-17. A brilliant swinging band with a truly unique lineup!

Zoe Downs Quartet

Tenor saxophonist Zoe Downs is a Scottish jazz musician from Aberdeen, living in Glasgow and studying jazz at the RCS. In Zoe's band, they play a blend of contemporary jazz and folk, taking influence from artists such as Joshua Redman, Ben Wendel, and Matt Carmichael. Inspired by Glasgow's vibrant music scene and its crossover of jazz and trad, they play a range of Zoe's compositions and the band's favourite jazz findings.

AJF Youth Band Jam

The AJF Youth Band will lead a jam session on great tunes new and old. Young participants welcome!

Toolbox Orchestra

A final chance to catch The Toolbox Orchestra from Berlin. They began with instruments built from workshop tools—singing saw, washtub bass and more—before expanding to include banjo, guitar, trumpet and clarinet.

This group channels the playful energy of 1920s and 1930s music, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Their first Scottish appearance promises a joyful, spirited performance full of character.

Riya Sysa Duo

Local singer taking great strides into jazz, Riya Sysa has a voice that is spell-binding. Will be a voice of the city for years to come, catch her here first.
