Soundbath – Matt Holborn & Danielle Price

In a highly anticipated return to this popular event, Aberdeen Jazz Festival presents a series of site-specific performances in the historic Bon Accord Baths. Closed to the public since 2008, the vast, light-drenched, cathedral-like space will form an atmospheric backdrop to two specially-commissioned short performances. Not only a visual spectacle, the acoustics of the cavernous Art Deco building also create an amazing aural experience, with sound reverberating around the tiled walls and pool floor. A unique opportunity to step inside and immerse yourself in this hugely atmospheric space filled with memories.

Joining us in 2026 will be violinist Matt Holborn (Edinburgh/ London) and tuba player Danielle Price (Elgin/ Aberdeen).

Matt Holborn is one of the leading jazz violinists in the UK. Born in Hull, he was raised in Edinburgh and learned jazz through his musician grandfather before studying at Leeds Conservatoire, and abroad in India and Romania. He has played violin in musical comedian Bill Bailey's live band, and is a founding member of the London Django Collective.

Danielle Price is an improviser, composer and innovator whose work explores a range of creative outlets, mainly using tuba and voice. After growing up in North-east Scotland, she studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She now enjoys a versatile career performing around the world with her own projects as well as being one of Scotland's most in-demand musicians, working across all genres alongside the likes of The Night With…, Blue Boar, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, New Antonine Brass, Ashley Paul, Ali Affleck, Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat, Laura Jurd and Martin Green.

A free event, with performances at 10am, 11am and 12pm, but booking is required as the shows frequently sell-out. Tickets are released in February.
