Jazz and Whisky will Hit the Right Note in Islay this September
The beautiful island of Islay is set to reverberate this Autumn with the rich sounds of jazz. Running from 20th–22nd September 2024, the island will play host to one of Scotland’s most iconic jazz festivals – the Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival. The popular event, now in its 26th year, will showcase the talents of performers from Scotland and the UK, Europe, and North America in a setting renowned the world over for its natural beauty. With Lagavulin as a main sponsor, notes and tones from both the whisky and the music will come together, providing a stimulating weekend for all the senses.
The Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival is widely known as a creative hot-house where top-class musicians meet and collaborate in new and exciting ways.

True to this year’s festival slogan ‘This City is Going to Make Some Noise’, the programme was set to rouse the city from its winter slumber and fill a host of venues with decidedly diverse sounds. This year’s venues included the well-loved settings of The Blue Lamp, Lemon Tree, Spin, Cowdray Hall and Queen’s Cross Church, plus the addition of the Tunnels for some late night club vibes, and the sophisticated surroundings of the Sandman Signature Hotel and The Advocates Library.
The huge variety of musical styles on offer ranged from blues to big bands; swing to soul; vintage vocals to cutting-edge composition.
