Sunday Jazz Jams at Gaelic Lane Cafe

Starting 20th September, on the third Sunday of every month from 4pm - 6pm, Aberdeen Jazz Festival welcomes the people of Aberdeen to Gaelic Lane Cafe and Bar for an open jam session. Join us for a perfect end to the week! A bar, good food and free live music - what more could you ask for?
Each month we welcome a professional band and open the stage to anyone who wants to jam, from school kids, students to old jazzers. Come along to enjoy the show. Catch young stars in this intimate and informal venue before they hit the big time! Children are very welcome, and maybe this will be the inspiration they need to pick up an instrument and take the stage themselves in a few years time.
At this first jam our band will be Melodie and the Chillers, a Latin jazz quartet who have a whole stack of Latin soul and jazz standards for you to play with. We have Melodie Fraser on vocals, Neil Birse on keys, KC on electric bass and Adam Taylor on drums.
Calling all players! Come along and jam with the band. There are drums, keys and full backline for you to use or bring your trumpet, guitar, saxophone, whatever you play. Singers and rappers are also encouraged to join. You might want to think of a couple of songs you want to play.
Melodie is not only our band leader but will be our jam night host! She will come and chat to each table to see if you want to jam, helping you decide on your songs and making sure you get a chance to play.
Never jammed before? Feel free to come along as an audience member first to get a feel for it, but this will be a warm and welcoming audience and the band will treat you as one of their own for your first performance (and every one after that!).
This jam is completely free to players and audience members.
